A message from India

A message from India

I received this wonderfully rugged aerogramme from a dear friend doing research work in India. Love the feeling of these kinds of things, where the material or packaging itself tells a story, giving a whole new depth of the actual message. The fact of the message being written on the inside of the envelope gives that feeling a boost.

Thank you Sofia!

The Library of Congress at Flickr

January 21, 2008 by Rasmus, tagged archive, flickr, history, photography and politics

The United States Library of Congress has partnered with the immensely popular flickr photo sharing site. The goal is to increase the profile of their archive of over 14 million prints, photos and other visual materials (and to demonstrate that government collections can be surprisingly cool).

They’re kicking things off by posting around 3,000 images from several of their most popular collections: News in the 1910s and the 1930s-40s in Color.
