Came by a set of beautifully designed chocolate bars today at Betsy Sandberg while strolling through Östermalmshallen in Stockholm. These delicious creations are made by ChocoLate Orgániko in Madrid, Spain.

Aesthetics

February 5, 2009 by Rasmus, tagged aesthetic, design, form, function, paul rand and quote

Without aesthetic, design is either the humdrum repetition of familiar clichés or a wild scramble for novelty. Without the aesthetic, the computer is but a mindless speed machine, producing effects without substance. Form without relevant content, or content without meaningful form.

The designers' standard wet dream

October 29, 2008 by Rasmus, tagged business cards, design and offline

Business cards – a channel for wild creativity.

I enjoy and am interested in design with function, or function with good design. Smart solutions delivering a message or feeling in novel and creative ways. For me, business cards are something you seldom are asked to create without any borders or limits. Often the client has little money or “knows exactly what she need”. But sometimes designers are hired with the possibility of really going wild on creativity.

There are a huge amount of brilliant business card designs out there so I thought I’d share my thoughts with you – presenting a few of my favorites.

Being an actual graphic designer or company makes things little bit trickier.

Fred Wilsons Web 2.0 NYC Slides

September 15, 2008 by Rasmus, tagged design, identity, presentation and slides

First slide

Fred Wilson is working on his Web 2.0 NYC presentation together with graphic designer Jeremy Bogdan. I think these slides provide an excellent example of how presentations could be designed, rather than constrained by the usual headline-divider-body-bullets-footer kinda template most people use.

The slides are designed to be “background music” for the talk I am giving. If you don’t see something you think is important in the presentation, there’s a good chance it’s in my talk but just didn’t make it onto the slides.
